With winter approaching, it’s time seasonal beers make their appearance. We’ve already covered the perfect beers for Thanksgiving, so now we’ll tackle the winter months.
Brewing beer specific to the season is a tradition that goes as far back as the 14th century, depending on the style of beer. Frankenmuth Brewery draws from these traditions to craft brews that are designed rich and full bodied for winter.
Bocks and Porters are common. These winter warmers are dark English ales brewed with a high alcohol content meant to warm the cockles on blistery winter nights. They are always robust, sweetened with vanilla or chocolate and spiced with ginger and cinnamon to match the food of the season. Frankenmuth Brewery offers two seasonal beers; the Winter Bock Lager and The Baltic Style Porter.
The Winter Bock Lager is a deep mahogany with a tan head. Rich in character with a full body and malty flavor sweetened with chocolate and caramel. This warm and smooth brew is perfect for sipping while sitting in front of the fire. The Baltic Style Porter is just as smooth. Indigenous to Northern Europe, it’s brewed with a hint of coffee and complemented with dark fruit and raisin for a bold flavor.
The best part of winter is the variety of seasonal beers that go along with it. White Ales and Bocks, Porters and Stouts. They’re all good, and Frankenmuth Brewery has you covered.
